Postdoctoral Position in Brain Health Disparities (closes Nov 7, 2024)
A postdoctoral position is available in the National Institute on Aging (NIA), Laboratory of Epidemiology and Population Sciences, Health Disparities Research Section. This position offers outstanding opportunities for training in a highly collaborative work environment and to conduct research on brain health disparities, focusing on historically marginalized communities, particularly Black adults. Under the mentorship of Dr. Indira Turney, director of the Brain Health Equity (BHE) Unit, the fellow will use advanced neuroimaging, epidemiologic, and genomic methods to explore environmental, sociocultural, and biological factors affecting brain health. The fellow will lead data analysis using neuroimaging, cognitive, clinical, and multi-omics data from large cohort studies like the Healthy Aging in Neighborhoods of Diversity across the Life Span (HANDLS) study, the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA), the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging (BLSA), the Washington-Height Inwood Community Aging Project (WHICAP), and the Offspring Study of Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Alzheimer Disease (Offspring). The role includes developing original research projects, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at conferences, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Postdoctoral Fellow, Kennedy Krieger Institute (closes Nov 16, 2024)
Postdoctoral Fellow position open in Molecular Neuroscience and Epigenetics at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, MD. The fellow will also have an appointment in Johns Hopkins Medicine. We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual with experience in routine molecular biology techniques (RT-qPCR, Western Blotting, RNA/DNA extractions) and/or next-generation sequencing of the genome/epigenome (ChIP, CUT&RUN, library preparations, bioinformatic approaches to data analysis). Experience in mouse genetics, behavior, and surgical procedures is also desired, but not required for this role. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mentoring, is highly effective in working collaboratively, and desires to build skills & aid in writing manuscripts. The laboratory uses mouse models to study neural epigenetic mechanisms of early life physical activity underlying neuronal function and cognition, and applies recent tools in molecular epigenetics to answer our research questions. If interested, please send your CV to Dr. Autumn Ivy (ivya@kennedykrieger.org).

Tenured and Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Neuroscience (closes Nov 17, 2024)
The Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), the Rutgers Child Health Institute (CHI), and the Rutgers Brain Health Institute (BHI) seek outstanding candidates for tenured or tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor to fill multiple new faculty positions. We are seeking outstanding, creative scientists with expertise and interests in any of a broad range of disciplines to join our department and centers. Candidates that study neurodevelopment, neurodegeneration, and the role of neurons and glia in the healthy and diseased brain using molecular, cellular or circuit approaches are of particular interest.

Postdoctoral Fellow - Neuroscience, immunology, cell biology
A post-doctoral position in neuroscience is available in the lab of Dr. Chuan Wu, Experimental Immunology Branch, CCR, NCI in Bethesda, MD. The laboratory's research interest focuses on how neuron-immune interactions regulate mucosal sensation for barrier integrity in health and disease. We seek to study how immune signaling participates in gut sensation and regulates gut-brain axis. We are also exploring new therapeutic approaches for patients with intestinal inflammation and related extraintestinal manifestations. We are utilizing interdisciplinary approaches to elucidate the crosstalk between the nervous system, microbial pathogens, and the immune system. Main areas we are investigating include:
Reciprocal regulations between the host and gut microbiota.
Neuro-immune crosstalk for the mucosal homeostasis in lungs and gastrointestinal tract.
Identification of novel targets in the intestinal epithelium for IBD treatment.
