The aim of this site is to attempt to create a free searchable database of newspaper reports and images of some of the many servicemen who served in the Great War 1914 - 1918.
Many local newspapers of the time, carried reports and images of men who were on active service.
In some cases the man was wounded, sick, or missing, and all too often he had been killed in action or had died of wounds.
At the moment we only have reports from the Sheffield Evening Telegraph, but hopefully details of servicemen recorded in other newspapers will be added at a later date.
