This chapter covers: 1. MARC language code and language notes 2. LC Class number; and 3. Subject headings in cataloging of materials in and about the Rusyn/Carpatho-Rusyn language and literature.

1. MARC language code and language notes

The language code for the Rusyn/Carpatho-Rusyn language is sla (a group code for all Slavic languages which have not been assigned an individual language code). It is recommended that a language note in the 546 field is added to the bibliographic record because of the importance of language identification and the LC romanization convention. The LC romanization table for Rusyn/Carpatho-Rusyn was approved in 2013. Note that Rusyn/Carpatho-Rusyn from the Vojvodina and Srem regions involves slightly different transliteration. Add the term "Vojvodinian" in brackets to the 546 ‡a when dealing with material from these areas.

546 In Carpatho-Rusyn.

546 In Carpatho-Rusyn (Vojvodinian).
