Omissions in Statement of Responsibility

Generally, catalogers should not omit names in a statement of responsibility.

Optionally, a cataloger can omit information when transcribing names from a statement of responsibility. See LC-PCC PS 2.4.1.5, Optional omission:

If a single statement of responsibility names more than three persons, families, or corporate bodies performing the same function (or with the same degree of responsibility), omit any but the first of each group of such persons, families, or bodies. Indicate the omission by summarizing what has been omitted in a language and script preferred by the agency preparing the description.

RDA example (in MARC format):

245 00 Regionalʹnye aspekty formirovanii︠a︡ rynochnykh motivat︠s︡ionnykh mekhanizmov :

‡b mezhvuzovskiĭ sbornik nauchnykh trudov /‡c redakt︠s︡ionnai︠a︡ kollegii︠a︡ V.S.

Bilʹchak, otvetstvennyĭ redaktor [and # others].

The # here refers to the number of editors omitted.

Under AACR2 this omission would be notated as et al. or the non-roman equivalents for et al.
