Citation of Honors

Quite often, the name of a corporate body from the Russian Federation, the Former Soviet Union republics, or Eastern Europe includes phrases indicating that the corporate body in question was awarded a medal or an honor in recognition of its outstanding contributions to the field in which it is active.

Omit a phrase citing an honor or order awarded to the body when creating the authorized access point (RDA 11.2.2.9). Make a variant access point for the fuller form.

Note: Do not confuse names of corporate bodies receiving a state honor named after a person with names of corporate bodies named after a prominent scholar, saint, or founder, such as, for example:

Velikotŭrnovski universitet "Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodiĭ"

Uniwersytet im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu

In the latter cases, the phrase with the name of the scholar, saint, or founder is retained in the authorized access point.
