Abbreviations in Authorized Access Points

Authorized access points are based on usage and may contain abbreviations. This chapter discusses abbreviations in all kinds of authorized access points except for personal names. For the latter, see Fuller Form of Personal Names.

If the preferred name for the corporate body, geographic name or a title consists of or includes an acronym, initialism, or an abbreviated form of name, record the expanded form of the name as a variant access point (RDA 11.2.3.4).
