Sebastian Utz

My  goal is to explore how information about sustainability aspects (such as climate risk scores or ESG scores) has an impact on the efficiency on capital markets and can be used in asset management models to build financially and sustainably attractive (or at least, resilient) portfolios. When I am not working, I enjoy pursuing outdoor activities such as cycling and skiing.

Currently, I am a Professor of Climate Finance at the University of Augsburg (Germany). My earlier positions have been an Assistant Professorship at the School of Finance of the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Banking and Finance at the Terry School of Business at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA (USA), and a PostDoc at University of Regensburg (Germany), where I have also obtained my Ph.D. in Finance.  My research has been published in journals such as Operations Research, Journal of Business Ethics (both are among the Financial Times Top 50 scientific journals), European Journal of Operational Research, and Financial Analysts Journal and honored with the HSG Impact Award, the LIFE Climate Foundation Liechtenstein Impact Award, and the Shin Research Excellence Award of the Geneva Association, among others.
