Common Questions

Do you have a contractor’s license?

Yes! Anyone performing painting jobs over $500 must be licensed by the California Contractor State License Board. Licensed painting contractors must demonstrate at least 4 years experience/education in painting contracting, be fingerprinted, have FBI background check and be bonded. There are many unlicensed painters operating illegally in California.

Do you have references for the type of job I am interested in?

Yes! Most likely I have references within 10 miles of your project. In 25 years, I have worked on every style of home in Southern California. From Spanish to Ranch to French-Mediterranean to Modern, I have references I am happy to share.

Do you have liability insurance and workers compensation for your painting crew?

Yes and Yes! General liability insurance protects the consumer against any damages that can occur accidentally in the process of a paint job. Workers compensation provides medical coverage to any injured worker due to an accident on an owner’s property. This insurance protects homeowner’s assets from lawsuits by injured workers. Incredibly important!

What kind of products will you use on my job?

I only use highest quality products, from primers to finish coats. I have never cut corners in this area to save money because I treat every project as if it were my own. Higher grade products are not only more aesthetically pleasing and longer lasting, but add value to your home/project.

Will you kill mildew before you start painting?

Yes! This is essential for a long lasting paint job, especially on the west side. Most painting contractors will simply sand and/or paint over spores which does not kill the spores. In a couple of years, the continuing mildew will cause the paint to peel prematurely. We kill mildew with a bleach based mildewcide and rinse before the preparation begins.

Do you have any guarantees?

Yes! All work is guaranteed. Interior work is guaranteed for five years against chipping and/or peeling. Exterior guarantees will be discussed and agreed upon during the proposal phase.

How will you protect my furniture/artwork/ carpets/ etc.?

Some of America's top art collectors entrust me with their interiors. All items are either properly masked or removed from the rooms being worked on.
