These are copies of the point and polygon shapefiles created by Pham and Biber for the most recent MS seagrass mapping project. The files are in Google Earth's .kmz format and use WGS 84 datum with UTM 16N projection. They can be viewed directly in Google Earth.
Files prior to 2005 (Hurricane Katrina) were interpreted from historical photos, reports, herbarium specimens, or image interpretation with limited or no actual GPS data collected.
Files from 2007 onwards are actual GPS points or polygons from ground surveys done in late fall (typically Nov-Dec) during low tide when seagrass patches are readily observed. Ruppia has been slowly expanding both in extent and patch size/density over this time period. Photo documentation for these surveys is available on request.
