Hi, Thanks for visiting my my music biography page !!!
I am a passionate music vocalist currently living in Princeton, New Jersey, USA. I originally hail from Visakhapatnam, AP in India, have a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the US and work as a RegTech/FinTech professional in New York City.
My listening interests include Carnatic, Hindustani, Devotional , Light/Film music and Western.
I am a firm believer in "What touches the soul is music".
My musical journey can be witnessed on my Youtube channel and most of my live performances to date are available in this Youtube Playlist. My music world now comprises learning, mentoring & teaching and performing in concerts.
I am fortunate to have inherited at least a fraction of the music genes from my gifted father Late Sri Darbha Radha Krishna Brahmam, who pursued his music and theater interests part-time even while holding a full-time job "Manager-Law section" at MMTC Visakhapatnam, India,
My father was a renowned singer, stage artist, public speaker and an artist of AIR-Visakhapatnam.
My sister "Lakshmi Gayatri Chunduri" is so melifluous with ease of singing that one song of hers, just one song (unplugged version) on YouTube on Lord Sri Satyanarayana has raked in 1.8Million+ views as of November 2021.
I feel fortunate to be able to use music as a medium to raise funds for the causes I believe in, predominantly Children's education and "Sanatana/Vedic Dharma" activities.
While I was in the bay area (Silicon Valley), California, I conducted multiple courses and workshops of light carnatic classical, light and devotional music to sincerely interested groups of children and adults at VEDA, Milpitas,CA and Sri Datta Sai Mandir, San Ramon,CA for a couple of years. This was to further my passion for music and to raise funds for Veda and other "Sanatana dharma" related institutions and activities.
Along with participation in light/film music, I also participate in and help organize classical music concerts (Aradhana & Jayanthi) to celebrate life and works of legendary devotional musicians including Tyagaraja, Annamacharya, Bhakta Ramadasu and other saint composers in an endeavor to preserve & support rich Indian devotional musical heritage.
It is my good fortune that I developed an association with Sadguru "Sri Samavedam Shanmukha Sarma" garu and sing his Siva padam composition Sakala mantramula/సకల మంత్రముల (Ragam: Naata) during one of his discourses in the bay area, California. I consider myself blessed as I got opportunities to sing
Tyagaraja kriti "Nada tanumanisam/నాద తనుమనిశం" (Ragam: Chitta Ranjani),
"Vandanamu raghunandana/వందనము రఘునందనా" (Ragam: Sahana) and
a devotional song "Dinakara Subhakara/దినకర శుభకరా" (Ragam: Pantuvarali)
during Sarma gari various discourses in the US and India.
I take immense pleasure in singing melodious songs, devotional songs and songs based on light classical music.
I grew up singing to songs and tunes without having any formal Carnatic music background. It was only after my performances in the first-ever "Paaduta Teeyaga-USA-Finals" that I started learning Carnatic music. Click here for Paaduta Teeyaga Preliminaries
Over the years, I had the good fortune of interacting and networking with music legends from Carnatic music, Hindustani music and Film music and by virtue of this, I have picked up valuable tips on singing/voice training in particular and Indian music in general.
I have learnt carnatic music briefly from Smt. Mythili Srinivasan, Smt. Manjula Ramesh, Sri Talluri Narasimha Rao garu, Smt. Anuradha Chivukula and picked up valuable vocal singing tips and advice from Smt. Lakshmi Putcha.
I also took a few advanced Carnatic vocal music classes from a living carnatic music legend "Sri Nallan Chakravarthy Murthy" also known as "NC Murthy garu", who has created kritis and varnams in all the 72 Melakarthas and has composed over 800 kritis and tillanas. I am blessed to have learnt from a genius in carnatic music whose music is full of Bhavam, Shastram and rationale.
I feel humbled to say that I am a constant learner from nature and people of various talents and age groups.
I mentored different groups of children and young adults in the bay area, California during 2011 and 2012 for a few fund-raiser music concerts for Sankara Eye Foundation (SEF), SiliconAndhra, Sathya Sai Center, San Jose and other non-profit organizations. I conducted a 9-week workshop on "Bhakta Ramadasu Kirtanas" to train a group of people in San Jose, California.
I continue to mentor music students in New Jersey, other parts of USA and across the world through Skype. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to share my passion for music in this manner.
I have performed in quite a few music shows to promote causes of several non-profit organizations like AID, Asha, Sankara Eye Foundation and to help raise funds for construction of Indian temples such as SV Temple of NC and Hindu Society of Central Florida in USA.
