Dr. Powell Distinguished Service Award

The executive committee of the South Dakota Association of Addiction and Prevention Professionals is pleased to announce that nominations are being accepted for the:

Dr. Powell Distinguished Service Award

This award will be presented once a year at the SDAAPP Fall Conference to recognize and honor an Addiction Professional or Prevention Specialist who has provided leadership, mentoring and guidance in the Addiction profession. Nominations should include brief vitae of the individual, their accomplishments and contributions not only to the profession but to their communities as well.

Outstanding Professional

This individual must be a South Dakota Certified or Licensed Addiction Professional or Prevention Specialist. This individual will be considered on the basis of life-time achievement, but must be actively working in the addiction or prevention profession. This person may be employed in a school district, a community, a state accredited treatment facility, private or correctional based agency in South Dakota. The individual must have demonstrated excellence in service delivery and provide behavioral health services.

Eligibility

Any person may be nominated for recognition for which achievements have been outstanding in the addiction or prevention profession. The following criteria must also be met for all nomination submissions:

Leadership: This individual has exhibited a commitment to serving on National, State, and local boards that advocate for the addiction profession.

Commitment: This individual has gone beyond the duties of a job description or has volunteered their personal time to promote the addiction profession.

Community Education: This individual has provided education which has empowered others to seek assistance and has led to the advancement of the addiction profession.

You must also provide the status of individual’s current licensure/certification, place of employment and any other substantiating information that would deem them eligible. Nomination deadline is August 1, 2019.
