Discover a previously not so well documented feature: Direct row link
Direct row link
In a previous article I spoke about pre-set Filters in a URL
But there is another option you can use to make custom link to your Awesome Tables views. It was first a small thing on this page : people-directory, but no further details were given. Time to correct that !
Add to Awesome Table URL the options :
'q=' : specify the key to find in the first column of the table or given by the query (Select B,A,D gives you B as first column)
'c=' : optionally specify the column name to search your key in. Note that columns name are in caps (A,B,..,Z,AA,..)
This give you the ability to make direct link to a row of data : it select it when Awesome Table loads, really handy !
Example
with only 'q=' : https://sites.google.com/site/scriptsexamples/available-web-apps/awesome-tables/people-directory ? q= camille.lambert@demo.com
with 'q=&c=' : https://sites.google.com/site/scriptsexamples/available-web-apps/awesome-tables/people-directory ? q= camille.lambert@demo.com&c=D
Note here that we used a selection on a field that is empty in the spreadsheet ! The data is build by template first, then found by the direct link. With this you can build unique identifiers quite easily !
