Page 1 DLOY 1990-92

1990 to 1992 saw the last two years for DLOY as an independent regiment. The locations were...

RHQ & HQ Sqn Chorley (Lancaster House)

A Sqn Wigan

B Sqn Clifton

D Sqn Preston & Blackpool

Home Service Squadron(HSF): SHQ was based at Chorley and Troops were dispersed with sabre squadrons.

With a TA CO and new guidon presented by Her Majesty and Colonel-in-Chief in 1990, there was no sign of the changes to come. Lt Col Steiger handed over command to a regular CO Lt Col Simon Stewart QDG and Major John Eastham handed over to Major John Tustin on his return from a staff post in 42(NW) Bde HQ. But by November 1992 the reorganisation was complete and DLOY had vacated Chorley, Preston and Clifton with its one remaining squadron in Kearsley House, Wigan.

This scrapbook covers the final regimental days of DLOY and has often been wheeled out on social occasions to remind yeomen of days gone by. In 2014 the album was digitised before suffering further aging and digital copies are now held both with the Wigan Squadron and the Regimental Museum in Preston. A substantial amount of the scrapbook is presented here online for all to share.
