If we were to continue to explore this experiment we would try to find out how light wavelengths and CO2 affect a species of plant. A previous study found that purple light causes the highest rate of photosynthesis in plants and green light causes the least amount of photosynthesis (Beer, Duff, Christopherson, & Bingham, 2001).
Another interesting experiment would test how different concentrations of CO2 affect plants. In our research we discovered that higher concentrations of CO2 cause plants to have higher rates of photosynthesis. Two studies researched how the concentration of CO2 causes a difference in the rate of photosynthesis and nitrogen absorption (Umeå University, 2015) & (University of Gothenburg, 2015).
Exploring how these two factors further affect the rate of photosynthesis could expand our knowledge and help us further understand photosynthesis and the factors that affect it.
We would also like to find out how the photosynthetic proteins in artificial leaves affect the rate of photosynthesis. A study measured how the amount of photosynthetic proteins affected the rate of photosynthesis (Ruhr-Universitaet-Bochum, 2014).
