School Counseling Program

Dear Families,

Friendly reminder to check that you're not holding tension in your body. Let your shoulders drop, unclench your hands and jaw. Take a deep breath. Much better.

Let's work together to enthusiastically generate positive change --within ourselves, our students, our schools and our communities!

My greatest hope is to use my training in school counseling to become a vessel for social justice in the educational system. As a school counselor I will continue to be a fierce advocate for child and youth success in all domains of development; academic, emotional and social and college and career readiness. Let us unite and work together to break down educational barriers for all students.

Counseling Services

Classroom Guidance Lessons

The counselor will teach lessons in all classrooms throughout the school year to help students develop and practice skills for social and academic success. Research based curriculum will be delivered in all classrooms. For example; Kelso's Choice, Zones of Regluation and Second Step - Bullying Prevention.

Group Counseling

Small groups for students to increase skills in the areas of friendship, social success, emotion management, stress management and school success. Your student might also be invited to have lunch in the counseling office with their friends.

Individual Support

Is provided to some students who may need help to overcome problems that interfere with learning. Connecting students and families to outside services when appropriate.

If you are interested in more counseling support you could be referred to our Mental Health Specialist, Christina Sand. Click here to learn more about our School Based Mental Health Counselors.

Collaboration

The counselor collaborates with all stakeholders (students, families, educators, administrators and the community) so that EVERYONE has the best experience at Clark.
