I have organized research forums across software engineering and programming languages, including the Agentic Software Engineering Workshop at CAIS 2026, 2024 Dagstuhl Seminar on Code Review, the AI and Static Analysis workshop at PLDI 2022, REBASE at OOPSLA 2020, the Facebook Big Code Summits (2018, 2019), workshops on the future of debugging (2012, 2013), and meetings of IFIP Working Group 2.4.
Founding Research Groups
I have founded research groups at IBM Research India, Samsung, Facebook, and Google, including Facebook’s Big Code team.
Software Engineering Research in India
I helped build the software-engineering research community in India by founding the IBM Research India software engineering group, lecturing at BARC, IISc, IIT Delhi, and IIT Kanpur, and helping steer ISEC through its formative years. I served as ISEC Program Co-Chair in 2013 and returned as a keynote speaker in 2023.
