These robots were created by me in my 11th and 12th grade with which i won the 12th Grade Science Exhibition . Inspired by B.E.A.M robotics, they contained no microcontrollers and were either battery powered or solar powered from calculator solar cells. The parts not purchased from the local electronic shops were taken apart from old discarded electronics, such as old VCR's, TV sets, Transistor radios, CD drives, Sony Walkmans' and broken watches.
One Motor Walker:
A one motor walker utilised a 74HC240 and 0.22uF and 1.8Megaohm resistors to create step A.C timing signals that were amplified using inverting buffers in the same IC. The output was a gear motor which moved another half gear each with two legs connected that swiveled to create an overall net forward movement dependent. The direction was on the c.o.g of the robot and was powered by 4 AAA cells.
