Plant classification is primarily the basis of botany where it is needed to understand plant geography, plant ecology, plant genetics etc. Also, the study of herbal medicines is dependent on the proper identification of plants. So, plant classification plays an important role in many ways. The leaves of the plants are largely used for classification of plants. Here, leaf classification usually involves the analysis of different attributes of leaves. For example, leaf boundary shape information, vein structure, skeleton, color and texture information are types of attributes. Leaf vein structure varies from species to species. We are working with an objective to propose a set of leaf-vein structure based features for robust classification of leaves. The challenge lies in proper detection of second and third order veins present in a leaf and analyzing the structures.I
