About Dr Thelen

Who am I ?Sarah Thelen, MD is originally from a rural community in Michigan. She was raised on a farm as the oldest of four children. Dr. Thelen attended Calvin College, a Christian liberal arts college, for her undergraduate education in Biology. She then graduated in the to 10% of her medical school class from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI.

Dr. Thelen's husband served in the US Navy and this brought them to Jacksonville, FL where Dr. Thelen completed her residency training in Family Medicine. Following completion of residency, Dr. Thelen moved to Huntsville, AL where she completed an additional year of training in Obstetrics to further enhance her surgical and delivery skills.

Dr. Thelen is a published author in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine. Her article is regarding the Primary Care of Patients with Chonic Kidney Disease.

Dr. Thelen has been married to her husband, Matthew, for over 15 years. In 2010 they celebrated the birth of their first child, Isaac. In 2015, they celebrated the birth of their second son, Jonah.

Dr. Thelen is enjoying the joys of motherhood and therefore works some half days during the week to achieve this balance in her life.
