I am Professor of Philosophy at New York University Abu Dhabi, where I moved a few years ago from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I am also the co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Ethics and Social Philosophy. For the academic year 2025-26, I'm a Laurance S. Rockefeller Visiting Faculty Fellow at the Princeton University Center for Human Values.
My research on agency and the philosophy of mind focuses on the nature of intention and belief. I'm interested in questions about self-knowledge, self-control, and what we should believe about our own intentional actions, among other things. My book Philosophy of Action: A Contemporary Introduction is now available!
For a summary of my thoughts on various things, here is an interview with 3:16AM Magazine. You can reach me at sarah.paul@nyu.edu.
