Samahang Pilipina Zug

(Philippinischer Verein Zug)

brings Filipinas and other nationalities in Zug and in nearby areas closer together, improving their relationships through effective communication and productive/creative activities as well as solidarity and cultural consciousness.

History

An active and enthusiastic Filipina initiated to have a Philippine organization in Zug and in the neighboring areas.

On June 15, 1996, she organized a luncheon meeting and at the same time an acquaintance party. It was attended by 12 Filipinas. They had lunch, played games and a workshop on the topic “GOSSIP”.

It was facilitated by a Filipina psychologist. With these activities, they ended up the day with a great achievement, the formation of the SAMAHANG PILIPINA ZUG (SaPilZug)

Aim

To bring the Filipinas and other interested nationalities in Zug and in nearby areas closer together and to improve their relationship through effective communication and productive/creative activites as well as to promote solidarity and cultural consciousness.

Activities

•  To maintain our friendship, we organize picnics, excursions, parties and ladies’ night-outs.

•  For the financial aspect, we have bingos, tombolas and fund-raising parties and bazaars. 

•  For educational and social awareness we have seminars, workshops, exhibitions and group discussions and meetings.

•  Helena Kissling - cash donation to a young and very sick girl                                                                       

•  ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc.: Cash donation for the Ondoy catastropic flood victims

•  PREDA Foundation, Philippines (Girls Department): School bags, shoes, balls, bed mattresses, school chairs, etc.

•  Cagayan de Oro Flood Victims: Cash donation through a Filipina who will personally  buy and distribute the things needed by the flood victims.

•  Elsie Gaches Village in Alabang, Muntinlupa City - 2011 and Cash donations in coordination with St. Johannes Church and the ZUGWEST Quartier in Zug

•  Sisters of Mary Children Home in Cavite & Cebu, Philippines. Cash donation personally handed to the Sisters in Cavite

•  Typhoon Hayan Catastrophe 2013: Cash donations given to affected Filipinas, food items distributed to affected families

•  Sisters of Mary Children Homes in Silang, Cavite and Cebu City - cash donations raised from our benefit shows and fund-raising activities, 2013, 2016, 2018

•  Elsie Gaches Village, Alabang City, Philippines - cash donations raised from our benefit shows and fund-raising activities, 2011, 2016, 2018

•  St. Scholastica`s Mission Hospital in Pambuyan, Northern Samar, Philippines: Cash donation raised from our benefit shows and fund-raising activities, 2016

• Charity Event "People Help People" in Kantonsschule Bülach, January, 2014 - we participated in the Program to raise funds for the victims of the Typhoon Haiyan

•  Herti School Closing Feast 2016, 2017 : We were invited to provide Asian foods as demanded by the organizers and guests, also partly as our fund-raising activity

•  Weltgebetstag" (World Prayer Day) for the Philippines, March 3, 2017 :  We helped during the mass (presented Philippine Folk dances, information about the Philippines, cooked Philippine specialties) in different churches in Zug, Zürich and Wettingen, all in Switzerland.

•  Social World Project of the Catholic and Reformed parishes of Steinhausen, Zug for the garbage children of Cebu City, Philppines : We supported the organizers during the mass, apero and fund-raising dinner. 2017, 2018 & 2019
