Legal Research:
UofT Human Rights Internship at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Geneva. 1999.
I performed research on gender equality in nationality law in cooperation with the International Law Association’s Committee on Feminism and International Law during their preparation of “The Final Report on Women’s Equality and Nationality in International Law” (2000). I attended meetings of the UN General Assembly, the UN Human Rights Committee, the International Law Association, and the Committee on the Rights of the Child.Senior Editor for Legal Theory, University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review .1998-1999
Associate Editor, University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review. 1997-1998.
Social Rights Working Group, University of Toronto Faculty of Law. 1998
I examined Canada’s compliance with the International Covenant on Social, Economic and Cultural Rights with respect to the right to housing for an alternative report to the UN Committee on Social, Economic and Cultural Rights. The report was developed by a coalition of Toronto-based NGOs and submitted to the UN Committee on Economic Social and Cultural Rights prior to its review of Canada's compliance with this treaty.Justice for Children and Youth Legal Clinic, Toronto, 1998.
I assisted with the preparation of a Canadian constitutional case by researching children's rights in international law, primarily under The Convention on the Rights of the Child, and in other legal systems.Ontario Ministry of Culture, Citizenship and Immigration, Legal Department. 1997.
I primarily worked on issues concerning the Ontario Human Rights Code. I also worked on agreements between the Ontario Government and cultural organizations, and between the Ontario Government and First Nations.
