In a measurement process, it is relevant to point out the aspects related as much the efficiency of the operations as costs associated to these measurements, either in a scientific research or in an industrial quality control. In this manner, it is extremely important to establish a size of the sample [1] compatible with the minimum reliability required for the process.
The SAMPLE SIZE CALC software was developed with the objective to promote to the researcher or to the process analyst a practical way to determinate the samples’ necessary size, considering the maximum error allowed.
This software aims to assist in the estimation of the sample size (N), from the Student’s t-distribution, depending on the Student coefficient (t), the pilot sample standard deviation (s) and the estimation error (ee), according to the equation below [1,2].
