Effects of Fire on Building Construction Materials
Participants will learn how different materials respond to fire, including their behavior, resistance, and the impacts on structural integrity. The class will also provide information on the complex interactions and behaviors of fires within enclosed spaces or compartments. It will provide an understanding of why fire-resistant construction requirements exist in the built environment and Chapter 7 of the IBC.

History of SMCO
Welcome to SMCO Southwest Missouri Code Officials, Inc. (SMCO) was established March 3, 1992, as a chapter of the Building Officials and Code Administrators International (BOCA). On January 21, 2003, SMCO was approved for chapter status by the Board of Directors of the International Code Council (ICC). As an ICC chapter, SMCO supports the adoption of the International Building Codes, which are produced by the ICC. The chapter's primary thrust is educational, sponsoring or co-sponsoring a number of seminars each year. Membership is open to all individuals concerned with the conformance of design and construction to code requirements.
