New Horizons Music programs provide entry points to music making for adults, including those with no musical experience and those who were active in school music programs but have been inactive for a long time.

Our Intermediate String Class Is Best For Those With Some Experience
This ongoing group meets the needs of those who have played some but are not ready to play at the level of a community orchestra. Some began a year or two ago. Others played many years ago and are picking up their instruments once again. A few have played with this group for about ten years, since it began.
We focus on rhythm, intonation, dynamics, articulation, and bowing. Current music is easy to medium-easy. Students must be able to read music and have a string instrument. Call us if you have questions about our group and/or your level of ability. We will do our best to work with you.
You Will Need:
A String Instrument: Violin, Viola, Cells, or Double Bass
Violin and Viola Players will need a chin rest
Cello Players will need a cello stop
Students With No Experience
While it helps to have at least a few months experience, we have had a few who have sat in and learned while playing. We can help you find a way to learn to play violin, viola, cello or double bass if you are a true beginner. We can suggest teachers and suggest places to obtain an instrument. Those with very little experience play easier versions of the music, skipping the more difficult sections. If you are just "rusty" with your playing skills, we can help get you up to speed. We don't expect perfection.
