The Mission
The Mission
The Saline-Brecon Friendship Guild Ltd. was established in April of 1989, with two primary goals. First, to promote our sister city relationship to as large a base in the greater Saline community as possible. Second, to provide a focus for the necessary fund-raising activities which will provide the financial resources necessary for continuing and expanding our 60-year association and friendship with Brecon, Wales.

By the end of 1989 the Guild had established itself formally with the adoption of a constitution and by-laws, election of officers and an official logo. In May of 1990, official tax-exempt status was granted by the federal and state governments. Meanwhile, the Guild had provided ambitious and successful fund-raising programs for the 25th and 30th anniversary celebrations in Saline with our guests from Brecon. These have included the highly successful "pub nights", sales of insignia items, and raffles. Additionally, the "Y Ddraig Goch" Society was formed for those friends of Brecon who wish to contribute in a more direct way. Most importantly, our mailing list now includes nearly 500 interested Salinians, a number which continues to grow almost daily. It is through the "Saline-Brecon Friendship Guild" that perpetuation of the wonderful bonds of friendship and affection will be assured.
