Public Engagement

• In October 2013, I organised a public engagement activity at the Manchester Science Festival at MediaCityUK and in collaboration with the British Computer Society (BCS), where I used the Image Metrics app called Mojo Masks to enthuse school kids about facial analysis and animation. Here are some photos of this event.

• In October 2011, I organised an "Introduction to Programming" activity at the Manchester Science Festival at the Museum of Science & Industry (MOSI) where I used the 3D tool called Alice to introduce kids to the concepts of programming. I also organised an "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" activity at the Manchester Science Spectacular event, using the facial animation tool called CrazyTalk to popularise A.I. technology to young minds. Here is a photo of that event.

• I was the co-chair of a panel discussion entitled: Beyond the PhD: Academia vs. Industry in the School of Computer Science, The University of Manchester in June 2011. Here are video links to the event: part1 part2
