Machine Learning/Deep Learning

Currently working as AI R&D consultant in the fields of Speech & Language Technology, Generative AI, Large Language Models, etc.

I have been a Research Associate in the SpandH group at the University of Sheffield (2014-2019) and have previously worked on the EPSRC project: Natural Speech Technology, which aimed to significantly enhance speech recognition and synthesis capabilities by making it more natural. At Sheffield, we focussed on speech recognition and we collaborated with the universities of Edinburgh and Cambridge, where the focus was on both recognition and synthesis. I have been involved with the MultiMT project in collaboration the NLP Group and looking at Neural Machine Translation from a multi-modal perspective. In 2017-2018, I helped with the setting up of the Voicebase Centre for Speech & Language Technology, a partnership between the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield and Voicebase.

From 2012 to 2014, I was employed as Research Engineer at Image Metrics researching Computer vision and Machine Learning techniques for facial analysis and animation.

I gained a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester with a thesis on visual speech synthesis, in 2012.

My research interests are in applications of AI and Machine Learning to Speech & Language Technology, Large Language Models, Computer Vision, Robotics, etc.
