Salcombe is situated in the South Hams an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The estuary is also a marine Site of Special Scientific Interest and has a Local Nature Reserve. There are many guided walks, wildlife, and special events in the area. The Salcombe /Kingbridge estuary is one of the most beautiful sailing and leisure destinations in the South of England, and the Weather, well it boasts its own micro climate. Nearby haunts are Hope Cove, Bigbury On Sea, Thurlestone, Bantham, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and the Dart Valley Railway. There are golf courses nearby, Totnes and the Shire Horse Centre, Plymouth and Dartmoor are all within easy reach. There are numerous restaurants and cafes in Salcombe town, information about dinning out can be accessed on eating out locally. Most are a stones throw from the cottage. Or you may choose to eat in and purchase your own food from baker and butcher just down the road, and then cook in our wonderful modern kitchen. You can park your car away for a week, and really have no need to leave the town. Fabulous beaches hug the estuary, and there are various boat trips and boat hire available, and a regular ferry runs across the estuary to East Portlemouth.
Salcombe is a popular family location in the school holidays with lots of child friendly activities and has become a 'cool venue' for relaxing breaks all year round.
