Welcome to the Quantum Measurement group, IIT Kanpur. We work on understanding and addressing a single question "How precisely can one measure?" i.e. what are the fundamental limits in precision, for the most optimally designed experiment ? We develop tools and experiments to test and understand various aspects of these questions.To this end we work simultaneously on two key ingredients: engineered photonic states as probe and a high precision microscopy for detection. For probe, we are currently working on controlled, on-demand single and correlated photons, generating them using non-linear processes in laser cooled atoms. In parallel, we have also built a confocal microscope (in an interferometric arrangement) to detect and control weak scatterers. Please visit our research page for further details.
