Majeed M. Hayat

Dr. Hayat received his Bachelor of Science (summa cum laude) in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Pacific (in Stockton, CA) in 1985. He received the M.S. and the Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988 and 1992, respectively. He is currently a Professor and Department Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Marquette University. He was an Associate Editor of Optics Express (Photodetectors and Image Processing) from 2004 to 2010 and an Associate Editor and member of the Conference Editorial Board for the IEEE Control Systems Society. From 2010 to 2013 he was the Chair of the topical committee on Photodetectors, Sensors, Systems and Imaging of the IEEE Photonics Society. From 2014 to 2018, he was an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems. He is the recipient of the National Science Foundation Early Faculty Career Award (1998) and the Chief Scientist Award for Excellence (2006) by the National Consortium for MASINT Research and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Dr. Hayat has authored or co-authored over 110 peer-reviewed journal articles and 135 conference papers (nearly 6,000 citations, H-Index: 41), and has 14 issued patents, six of which have been licensed. Dr. Hayat is a co-founder of Dynamic Photonics Inc, and he is a Fellow of IEEE, OSA, OPTICA, and SPIE.

  • Dynamical modeling of cascading phenomena with applications to power systems,

  • Avalanche photo diodes,

  • statistical communication theory,

  • Signal and image processing,

  • Algorithms for spectral and radar sensing and imaging,

  • Optical communication, and

  • Networked computing.

Muna Tageldin

Graduate Research Assistant, ECE department, Marquette University

Muna received her B.E (Bachelor of Engineering) and Msc in Computer Systems and Networking Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University, Oman in 2014 and 2018, respectively. After that, she took MBA bridging courses. She is currently a Ph.D. student in the electrical and computer engineering department. She worked as a Teaching Assistant and a research assistant in three projects (RF communication, smart grid, and biomedical signals classification). Her research interest includes the optimization and modeling of computing systems and image and signal processing.

Jamir Shariar Jyoti

Graduate Teaching Assistant, Marquette University

Jamir Shariar Jyoti received his B.Sc. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh, in 2016. After that, he completed his M.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from Marquette University, USA, in 2020. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, at Marquette University. His research interest focus on the reliability and performance analysis of power grids using probabilistic and mathematical modeling.

Mutian Zhuang

Graduate Research Assistant, ECE department, Marquette University


Mutian received his B.Sc. in Physics from Jilin University, China, in 2017. After that, he completed his M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Northern Illinois University, USA, in 2021. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, at Marquette University. His research interests include hyperspectral infrared imager systems, hyperspectral image compression, and signal processing.
