Course: Math 2B
Title: Single-Variable Calculus II
Units: 4
Textbook:
Stewart’s Calculus: Early transcendentals, 8th edition. There is also a UC Irvine custom edition of the textbook; it is identical (but make sure it is the 8th edition).
Material Covered:
We shall cover most sections of chapters 5, 6, 7 and 11 the textbook. A list of topics scheduled to be covered each day can be found on the Home page https://sites.google.com/site/s18math2b/home.
Reading Assignments:
Reading and doing the examples in the sections of the textbook corresponding to our discussions in lecture will help you learn and understand the course material better. If you work through the relevant examples in the book before you start your homework problems, you will probably solve the homework problems more easily and perform better on your exams than if you do not do the reading.
Discussion Sections:
Discussion sections will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Quizzes will be given in discussion sections. Check the Home page https://sites.google.com/site/s18math2b/home for the exact dates of the discussion sections.
Quizzes & Midterm:
There will be five quizzes and two midterms. Check the Home page https://sites.google.com/site/s18math2b/home for the exact dates of the quizzes and midterms. The lowest quiz score will be dropped.
Final Exam:
The final exam will be held from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm on Saturday, June 9, (Rooms to be announced).

Midterm 2 20%
Final 40%
