By most measures, I've only become a well-traveled person in recent years.
And yet for a much longer time, I've taken some of the most exotic journeys on earth.
I am a philosopher.
These journeys required no physical transport, because they are intellectual adventures.

My special thanks to Leigh Pomeroy for coming up with the "thinkingtours" domain name, suggesting google sites, and providing some technical help in developing the website.
(Note: When someone asked to attend just a few class sessions, the great 20th century Philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein once said, "My lectures are not for tourists." It was a well-justified response. This website though has a broader plan to accommodate varied philosophical interests, depending upon what different readers find satisfying and useful. I try to explain philosophical positions without reliance on someone's having extensive philosophical background. In my accounts of different philosophers, I tend to rely on their own writings rather than scholarly commentaries. Since I will be covering a wide range of philosophical work, I will be selective rather than comprehensive in discussing philosophers or issues, in keeping with my classes and interests during my career in philosophy. For example, I have never concentrated much on analytic philosophy, phenomenology, or Eastern philosophy. What I strive for are clear accounts of what other philosophers and I think, without venturing into quirkiness. Hopefully, you will find plenty of food for thought.)
