Demonstration & evidence of professional competency: As evidence of professional competency, My first sample, I presented a research paper I did on an "Effective school based intervention to increase trust in children who have been sexually abused". Based on standard 2.4 Intervention and Mental Health Services, I researched studies that support the effectiveness of therapy to treat sexually abused children with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), comparison between individual and group counseling for effective treatment. My second sample focuses on Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Children. The study was conducted for children who were sexually abused, and may have developed Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, and/or anxiety. The study was tested to examine the seriousness of mental health issues along with their levels of sexual behaviors.
Both sample literature's are both school based practices of individual and group strategies aim to reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and behavioral problems; improve peer relations; and enhance coping skills among students exposed to traumatic life events, such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, accidents, and natural disasters. I’ve learned in a real situation, together we as school professionals asses students, provide direct services (social skills group), educational remediation, instruction in social and emotional strategies, general curriculum support, and other necessary services as part of an invention program to meet student mental health needs.
