How to chose an instrument (piano)

Requirements and things to watch for
A full keyboard, digital or acoustic is strongly recommended, even as a first piano.
When purchasing not a full 88 keys keyboard, keep in mind that one would most likely replace it in 6 months. If not getting the money back on that first purchase is not an issue, this is the rout for you.
Even though the real acoustic piano (upright or grand) is recommended as your very first purchase, a full size 88 weighted keys keyboard, or a digital piano is quite adequate for a beginner piano player. The consideration of one vs the other (digital vs real acoustic) is anchored around replacement time frame and monetary value return. Since digital pianos do not hold their monetary value over time, in 2-3 years a digital piano would not be worth even 50% of its original value. Therefore, replacing a digital piano in 2-3 years for a real piano, one would lose the original monetary value of the previously purchased digital piano.
88 Keys and weighted keys and acoustic pianos
Why wighted keys? It's a simple physical/mechanical training of the hands' muscles to use more weight and a different length of time, while playing a real acoustic piano. In other words, one needs a lot less effort to play a digital/not weighted keys piano, then a real acoustic piano. Therefore, when trying to play a real piano in the future, it is impossible to achieve the full sound of the real piano, if trained only on the digital piano. Going from harder touch of the real piano to a digital piano is very easy, but not the other way around.
Why do we care about ever being able to play a real piano? All the performing pianos are real acoustic, most likely grand pianos. When performing, or recording your performance on any stage, the set of skills, only achieved playing a real piano comes into light. Unless the subject of study is Digital Keyboard (an actual subject), a training on a real acoustic piano is strongly encouraged.
Price and value over time
Any acoustic/real upright or grand piano will hold its value overt time. If after student's study, or during a move, one decides to sell their upright or a grand piano, they would still get a very close amount of money to the original buying price of the instrument. "Real" pianos hold their value, because a life span of an upright or a grand piano is 100 years.
Any digital piano does not hold their value. Choosing to purchase any digital piano, keep in mind that it would be difficult to get even 50% of its value back.

First of all, I would like to welcome you as a new student to my piano classes. With regular attendance, consistent practice on a daily basis and a sincere desire to learn, you will be able to accomplish wonderful things. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or an advanced student and whether you want to play for your own personal enjoyment or to perform professionally, the opportunity truly lies at your fingertips.
Our job is to teach and guide you as you learn and grow in your new art, so please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions you may have about your lessons, or about any concerns you may have. I will always do my best to help in any way that we can.
Students are allowed the flexibility of taking either in-person or virtual lessons, depending on their schedule.
Your consideration in letting me know of upcoming extended vacation trips will also assist me in planning my monthly schedule.
Learning Philosophy
Russian Overtones holds your child’s education process in the highest regard. Every child is a wonderful individual we are grateful to have an opportunity to interact with and help him/her with their musical professional growth. All our private and group lessons are parent free child vs instrument one on one voyage into the wonderful world of music. Along with providing techniques and skills on how to better achieve and master their instruments, we encourage improvisation and self-exploration of the world of music.
Safety
We take safety seriously and abide by all the protocols of COVID preclusions and regulations. The air is disinfected 24/7 with UV light system installed in the air duct. All the surfaces are disinfected often (before and after every student.) We implement teacher mandatory mask wearing for ALL in person classes. Group classes and private classes are offered online as well as in person.
