Born 1981 in Germany, Marcel Ruhl is an archivist at the historical Archiv of the German Museum of Technology. from 2011 - 2013 he was a PhD-student at the Berlin School of Library and Information Science. The working title of his dissertation "Verknüpfung verschiedener Objektsichten im Semantik Web am Beispiel von EAD und Multimediametadaten" touches the topics semantic web, EAD-coded archival finding aids and multimedia-metadata. This work has not been completed.

After the graduation to Dipl.-Archivar (FH) at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam in 2009 he worked as an archivist at the central archive of the police of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schwerin, Germany and at the BStU Ast Schwerin.
