Getting a Quote:
To receive a quote, or simply to ask questions, please contact me by email at:
(or just email me at Ross.Trafford@gmail.com)
You may attach a scanned copy of the document - customary formats only please: (GIF, JPEG, PNG) or PDF. I will not open a document with an obscure file-type. I will also not open particularly large documents, or emails that contain many documents. If you have a large project, I ask that you please contact me first to describe the nature of the project.
Please describe a little bit about the project, and your expectations.
Pricing Structure:
The pricing is calculated mainly by word count. However, the price per word can be influenced by a number of factors:
type of document: will, letter, mortgage, administration, etc.
Certain types of documents tend to use more flamboyant wording, or lots of tricky abbreviations.
approximate time period:
The time period is critical.
- Now-obscure letters (e.g. "ſ" and "þ") were in common use before the end of the 18th century.
- The style of writing almost any letter changes throughout history.
- The actual spelling and sentence structure changes with time.
quality of the copy: clarity, contrast, obscurement, etc.
Generally, the harder it is to make out the text, the higher the price.
- dim, faded or discoloured original,
- damaged original,
- text lost in fold lines,
- ink splatter, bleed-through, blotter marks, etc.,
- quality of hand-writing.
In some but not all cases, text that is partially obscured may be reconstructed from the context, but makes the job more difficult.
Payment Terms:
My preferred method of payment will be for me to send you an electronic invoice from my PayPal account. The invoice will provide a link for you to pay from your bank, credit card or your own PayPal account. In most cases, I will quote and bill in U.S. dollars (USD). When so needed, PayPal will automatically perform international currency conversions at a favourable rate.
If you have a different preferred method, please discuss with me.
Work on simpler projects will begin after payment is received. Complex projects may qualify for a partial-payment schedule.
