About Me

I have a variety of experience working in public, special, and school libraries. I worked for two years with the McGill’s Multilingual Children’s Library Association, as a volunteer and VP Communications, where I participated in collection development and management of the library collection. I have been volunteering for over a year at the McCord Museum of Canadian History in their private and secure Archive Center, as well as at the Atwater Library and Computer Center. At the McCord Museum I am involved with a major weeding project for the library collection, which involves not only de-selecting and removing items based on weeding criteria, but also updating and creating new catalog records, as well as helping to maintain project documentation. In addition I have created a catalog procedure manual to standardize the cataloging for the project and future library needs. At the Atwater Library and Computer Center I supervise the computer center as well as provide reference and technical assistance. I am also an intern at Ask Ontario providing digital reference through online chat to college students.

I have participated in a three month (January-March 2012) internship with the Dr. Henry Kravitz Psychiatry Library, a medical library part of the McGill University Library network, and continued to volunteer there until the end of June when the volunteer project was completed. At the Dr. Henry Kravitz Psychiatry Library I have been involved in several projects and duties such as cataloging, shelf-reading, reference (including literature searches), acquisition, circulation, promotion, course reader management, as well as creation of database guides, electronic table of contents webpage for significant journals, and a patient information web page.

My most recent experience is in the education sector at Solomon Schechter Academy, a tri-lingual private elementary school. In the past three years I successfully developed and coordinated several programs and projects. Some examples include a student peer book recommendation program, online instructional services, as well as developing and leading library classes aimed at lifelong learning skills. I was delegated to manage and supervise daily operations in our branch library at the Amiel Early Childhood Center.

I have also worked at Yorkhouse school in Vancouver as the interim Librarian for 2 years teaching children from 5 to 13 years old and running a book club and Kids' Lit Quiz club.

I now work at Vancouver Public Library assisting patrons with their accounts and special requests and help keep the library organized.

I also find information for people as a information consultant, teach ESL English (TESOL Certified 2020), write, and make art.
