Obituary

Roxanne Helene Clanin, 53 years, tragically departed on November 23, 2014. She was born and raised in Sacramento, California.

Roxanne Clanin attended American River College and California State University, Sacramento, before she moved to Los Angeles in 1982. She graduated from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) with Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies in 1985 and a Master of Arts Degree in Special Education in 1988. She also received a Regular Education Credential, a Special Education Credential, and Cross Cultural, Language, and Academic Development (CLAD) Credential.

In January 1988, she was hired by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and taught at Multnomah Street Elementary School for 24 years. She transferred to Marlton School for the Deaf in 2012 where she took much pride in teaching her special needs students.

She left behind an 11-year-old son, Pacey whose unconditional love was infinite. Pacey was her joy and she loved to do things with him.

Roxanne is predeceased by her father, Arthur Samuel Clanin. Roxanne is survived by life partner, Cathy McLeod; mother, Violet; son, Pacey; sister Renee (Ray); many cousins; LAUSD colleagues, and students; CSUN alumnus; friends; and greater Deaf community members.
