The Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps for Roscoe, Texas. There are two sets: one created in April 1921 comprising three sheets, or maps; and the other created in June 1927 with 5 maps. These showed and labeled every building in Roscoe on the areas covered. The originals are located at the Perry-Castañeda Library of the University of Texas at Austin.
1921
Map 1 covered the four block area between 3rd and 5th streets (N > S) and Cypress and Pecan (W > E) , along with the block with the Roscoe School bordered by 7th and Elm, as well as the corner of Front and S. Laurel.
Map 2 covered the downtown area, from the T&P railroad tracks to 3rd Street (N > S) and from Bois d'Arc to Pecan (W > E). Map 3 covered 3rd to 6th Street (N > S) and Bois d'Arc to Pecan (W > E).
1927
Map 1 shows the town layout and some of the prominent buildings. Map 2 covers the downtown area. Map 3 covers the eastern downtown area from Main St. to Laurel (W > E) and Broadway to 3rd St. (N > S). Map 4 is residential covering Elm, Ash, and Bois d'Arc Streets (W > E) from 3rd to 6th Streets (N > S). Map 5, also residential, covers Cypress, Main, and Pecan Streets (W > E) from 3rd to 6th Streets (N > S).
