Communication
It's important that students, teachers and parents all work together so good communication is essential.
The best way to contact me is via email at rwright@roomC6.com.

Homework
We have homework every day, five days a week.
The minute class begins, every student should have on his desk the homework that was assigned the day before. (If a student is absent the previous day, he displays the homework that was assigned the last day he was in class.)
Though students may often begin working on their homework during class, they may never turn it in early. It has to go home before it can be turned in. Parents will have the opportunity every evening to check the homework due the next day. In fact, parents are strongly encouraged to check the homework to be sure it is neat, complete, and reflects the child's best effort.
Late Work
Late work may be turned in one day late for half credit. After that, late work will not be accepted.
Students do not have to make up work that was assigned during an excused absence (though there are some rare exceptions).
Students returning from an absence will turn in what was assigned on the last day they were in class.
Extra Credit
Students may make an appointment to see me after school to discuss current grade status and extra credit opportunities. Extra credit is an effective way to raise a poor grade but the work will be more demanding and it should be undertaken well in advance of the grading cut-off date.
Reading
Your child is required to bring to school a reading book every day. Please help your child select a book that is both high interest and challenging.
Please review and sign the weekly reading log which is due every Monday.
Grading
Grading is based on effort and academic progress toward meeting district standards. It breaks down this way:
Homework = 50%
Reading = 20%
Class work = 10%
Tests = 10%
Special Projects = 10%
Discipline
Students are held to a high standard of behavior. They are expected to arrive on time, stay seated, keep their hands to themselves and pay attention. Students are also expected to be courteous and to treat each other with respect. The classroom will be free of bullying and verbal ridicule of any kind. It will be an environment that is both physically and emotionally safe.
Students who chew gum or arrive late to class late will serve detention. Students who are out of uniform will be referred to the vice principal.
Only materials required for the lesson will be allowed on the desktop. Backpacks must remain on the floor and students may not access them unless directed to do so.
