Unix, Data Science & Modeling Workshop

Recent years have seen a dramatic increase in the collection of data. Data science involves the use of computational and statistical tools to analyze large data sets. Our workshop consists of a series of self-paced tutorials to walk you through the fundamentals of computational analysis.

Tutorials 1-4 provide an introduction to the Unix command line, shell scripting, and programming with the Python language. Participants gain hands-on experience in programming and data analysis using their Mac or PC. The section concludes with a demonstration of modern statistical analysis in R Studio.

Tutorials 5-6 introduce molecular graphics software for 3D visualization of biomolecular structure, with an emphasis in protein structure modeling and design.
