We all Complain about the state of the world today,Some more than others.
Do you think you could cope when the 1st photo here was taken.
Things have changed over the years, most things for the better.
Can you imagine only one 5amp electricty point in the house, no TV, music centres, washing machines, fridges & many other things we now take for Granted
I remember my mum getting up 1hr before the rest of us to light the fire,to cook our breakfasts.
I remember going to Grandparents on Saturday night and Grandad would listen to the football results on his crystal set radio with headphones, we couldn't make a sound. The radio ran off accumalators which were recharged at the local shop.
This was the mode of transport Grandad used I remember the the grey horse but not the white one I think this was before my time. Grandad rented a couple of fields for crops.he also kept pigs which one of them was a large black one which we used to ride, he also butchered his own pigs and salt cure or smoked the meat to preserve it. I also remember the fruit trees and soft fruit crops We also had chickens & Dad grew some vegetable.
This meant that during the war and during food rationing after the war family wasn't short of food, not a lot of variety it was good.
