Dr. Ronald Benjamin, from the coastal city of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, completed his school, college, and university education in his hometown and has been a topper throughout his academic career. After completing his Master's in Physics from Utkal University, he joined the Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar, as a Research scholar and obtained an M.Phil Degree in Physics. He then moved to the US for further studies, receiving an MS in Physics from the University of Oregon at Eugene, USA. After getting a full Doctoral Fellowship, Dr. Benjamin obtained a PhD in Physics in the area of Non-Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA, where he was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Student in Physics for his academic achievements.
He then did Postdoctoral research in the area of Computational Soft condensed matter Physics for several years at prestigious Institutions such as the University of Colorado at Boulder (USA), the German Aerospace Center (Germany), Heinrich-Heine University in Duesseldorf, Germany, and TIFR, Hyderabad. He then joined Cochin University in Kerala for a 5-year Assistant Professor position, where he taught several Post postgraduate courses and mentored several Master's and Bachelor's students for their research projects. Currently. he is a PhD Research guide there and advises two research scholars on their PhD. Dr. Benjamin's area of research is the Equilibrium and Non-Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics of Soft Matter Systems. He has published several papers in high-impact factor journals, delivered talks at various international conferences, and is a reviewer for many prestigious scientific journals, such as the Journal of Chemical Physics and the Journal of Applied Physics. He was also the recipient of a 1 million INR research grant from UGC. He has more than 15 years of post-PhD experience and has won many accolades during his academic career. In his leisure time, he likes to read books, listen to music, and go for walks.
