INTROSPECTION BY A PHYSICIAN-FRIEND ON DEATH
A physician-friend posted this introspection on his 60th birthday in his Facebook:
Yesterday October 20, 2020 , I turned 60. In a few minutes I shall go up to 7th floor of the xxxxxxx School of Medicine where the cadaver gross anatomy laboratory rooms are located . I have been doing this for 8 years now , teaching both medical and dental students the basic human body structures and functions essential for their future practices. I realize that one day I I could end up possibly at a XXXXXXXX cemetery plot, in a crematorium, or even in a cadaver room if I decide to donate my body to the XXXXXXXX Human Body Donor Program. My beloved Mom ZZZZZ died at a young age of 43 due to SLE , my brother YYYY at 34 due to liver disease, my father at 72 due to a heart attack and last year. my dearest 23 year old son JJJJJJJJ due to depression and suicide . I vividly remember what my Aunt HHHHHHHHH told me when my mom was dying in 1977 at the MMMMMMM Hospital in VVVVV that all of us must will eventually die . Some die very young some very old . I pray that we come up with better diagnostic tools and treatment modalities to prolong human lives . Moreover , I pray when the time comes if it it is my turn To meet our Creator I pray that it would be fast , devoid of pain and prolonged suffering . I pray for all of us in these difficult times of the Corona Virus Pandemic. God Bless !
I sent him this note (20oct22):
QQQQQ, Happy Birthday on your 60th birthday. I read your introspection on your birthday. I agree that all of us will die one day. We must die one day (Memento Mori). As you said, we all hope we die without much suffering but that's not predictable. Just hope. To prepare for the eventual day, I have used an intentional living plan which I formulated in 1994 (at age 45) to guide me and I found it useful in terms of living life to the fullest, productive, contented, and happy. Since 2019, after I reached 70 years old, I have now been offering an online course (ROJ-OCIL on Intentional Living) for free to my friends, relatives, and particularly my cancer patients (as part of my public service program). You may be interested to take a look at these 2 links of mine (see below in separate boxes) just in the spirit of my sharing of information and not convincing or even forcing you to follow my way of living life. Happy birthday again.
