Teaching

I teach half of a 2nd year PhD macro topics course in the Economics department.  I focus on recent advances in New Keynesian economics, and in particular the role of heterogeneity in MPCs and in risk-bearing capacity in these models.  We study both closed and open economies.  See reading list and lectures here.

I also teach International Financial Policy (33502) in the MBA program.  The course covers theories of exchange rate determination and how well they match the data; the management of exchange rate risk for businesses; the choice of exchange rate regime, including monetary unions like the euro area; international financial crises and the roles of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank; fiscal and monetary policy in an open economy; the concept of current accounts and how to evaluate their sustainability; and the future of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency.  See syllabus here.
