Overview

Melanoma is the most dangerous skin cancer type, being responsible for the most part of death due to skin diseases. Nevertheless it is also the most curable if detected early. In this context, screening — a simple test to identify if a patient needs to see a doctor or not — is a powerful approach to find sick people as quickly as possible.

With technology advances, it is possible to create powerful tools to support automated melanoma screening.

In this project we aim to develop an automatic classifier to help dermatologists to early detect melanoma, by means of dermoscopic images analysis.
