I am a Assistant Teaching Professor of the Departament of Computer Science in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Victoria (UVic), BC, Canada. At UVic, I teach courses on computer science and software engineering.

Previously, I was a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the State University of Feira de Santana - UEFS, Brazil. I was with UEFS from 2000 to 2023, where I had the pleasure to found the Computer Engineering Undergraduate Program at UEFS, started in 2003, which I chaired for four years, and where I used to teach most of my undergraduate courses. I also had the privilege of being the first chair of the Computer Science Graduate Program at UEFS, started in 2018, and where I used to teach my graduate courses, and where I am still a faculty member, advising graduate students.

My research and teaching are focused on computing education and software engineering education (and, previously, on social computing).

During my PhD, I have worked with Prof. Dalton Dario Serey Guerrero, at the Software Practices Laboratory, in the Department of Systems and Computing of the Federal University of Campina Grande - UFCG. During this time, I have also been a guest PhD student at the Software Practices Lab of the University of British Columbia, in Canada, under the supervision of Prof. Gail C. Murphy. During my MSc, I have worked with the late Prof. David A. Carr, at the Department of Computer Science of Linköping University, in Sweden.
