Co-ownership (sometimes called a partner family agreement) seems to be becoming more popular in the breeding world, and it's no wonder as it offers many benefits to both breeder and buyer. As a breeder dedicated to producing pups with the sole purpose to improve each generation, I do not produce a litter I won't personally want to keep a pup from to continue the lines in some way or another. But how could I personally keep them all? It isn't ideal for me or for my dogs to keep every single pup that I see has potential for the next generation. This is where co-owners are vital! Becoming a co-owner to a puppy is very much like becoming an owner. The dog lives with you and your family, you get to love and enjoy him/her (and vice-versa)! The only difference is that one day that puppy may grow up to pass on his/her genes in my breeding program. I ask that I be able to visit the dog to take it to health tests or shows/events. When it comes time for breeding, if male, when I need to use his 'services', I visit your home with the female, or take him for about a week so he can perform his duties. For a female, I will bring the male to her for breeding or take her for a week to breed and return her to her family through most of the pregnancy. I am very flexible to make everything as easy as possible for the co-owners. During last weeks of pregnancy and whelp of the puppies, the female will stay with me, so that I can provide all care as needed, although the co-owner is encouraged to visit! Generally, co-ownership puppies are available at a reduced price or full price with the option of money back at the litters or close of contract. I am open to developing a contract that suits both me and the co-owners in the best way for everyone. After the dog has satisfied their breeding contract, I will arrange to have him/her neutered/spayed, at my expense. Not only is the new owner receiving a quality puppy that is top pick of a litter, they also have the knowledge that they are providing this dog with all the time, love and attention the puppy deserves.
Thank you to my co-ownership families for helping my lineage and breeding program to develop!
