Unfortunately I have some sad news to share. My sweet baby boy Carver (Gale & Razor), was only in his new home a couple of days before tragedy struck. An adult dog in the home jumped on him and pinned him, breaking his leg. Carver was returned, and I proceeded to get his injuries evaluated so I would make sure he would get the proper care. The good news is there are no other injuries and it's a clean break. The bad news is that it's too high up for a cast and requires pins / plate. This means orthopedic surgery at an estimate close to $6000, and of course after that, medication and recovery... My local group of current dog owners has really come forward, opening their hearts and pocketbooks to help get this boy the care he needs ❤️ Because of their help the initial vet bill for the evaluation has been fully paid, and we are scraping away at the bill for his surgery.... After his recovery he will require a patient loving home as I am sure there will be emotional trauma from this experience in the presence of larger dogs. However, the first goal is just getting his leg fixed up so he can go back to just being a puppy. He is the sweetest boy, with an adorable tail thump that captures your heart ❤️ He is just a baby with his whole future in front of him. His surgery is very soon… thankfully.. so he can start his road to recovery. Please wish him a safe and swift procedure with no complications ❤️ Will post more details after his surgery...
UPDATE: The Extreme / Rival Aussies family has come together to donate in droves for Carver, and we reached our goal to cover his surgery! It has been an emotional week, so many tears good and bad, but to see everyone come together to help this sweet boy was truly incredible. I am truly thankful and will never forget the amount of kindness and love! Carver may have also found his forever home... stay tuned!
THE FINAL UPDATE! Carver heads off to his new home and a new chapter in his life 💗 you might be wondering who would give better care than his breeder in recovery with the physical therapy that will be needed for the next while.. well the answer to that would be the doctor who did the surgery 🥰 yes that's right, it was love at first sight! Sometimes fate leads you on a path where all the stars just align.... And I couldn't be happier for Carver and his new family!! Also many thanks to the team at the Ottawa Animal Emergency Specialty Hospital for Carver's care while he was there ❤️ and of course to his new mom, for her care and effort to put in the plate / screws in his leg with such precision. He should recover 100% and run and play and do anything he wants to do! He is now "Extreme Iron Man"!
